Head Chef of Gin’ja

Japanese chef Hiro San has just been appointed head chef at the Asian seafood restaurant Gin’ja. His passion for fusion cuisine combines flavours from Japan, China and the West. Chef Hiro San moved on from the Jumeirah Emirates Tower in Dubai where he was Sous Chef and headed the sushi counter.
 
       
  Benoit Rodriguez
Head Pastry Chef at Le Telfair

Benoit Rodriguez comes to Le Telfair from Dubai where he held the position of Head Pastry Chef at Almaz by Momo. He has worked at some of the most famous hotels in the world including Raffles Hotel in Singapore, Le Jardin des Sens in Montpellier in France and the Lucas Canton a 3 star Michelin restaurant in Paris. His delicacies can now be enjoyed at Le Telfair.

Head Chef of Chateau de Bel Ombre

Bernard Gouerec joins Dominic Blais and the team at Le Chateau de Bel Ombre the early 19th century Manor house set amidst 100 year old gardens which was once the heart of the old Bel Ombre Sugar estate.


 
    Celebrate Valentine’s Day at Le Telfair  
       
  Start the day with a luxurious champagne breakfast in bed and as an extra special touch order a tropical floral bouquet to be delivered to your room.
The Six Senses Spa will be offering treatments for couples such as a three hour retreat including a Swedish massage, Indian head massage and facial.
Entertainment during the evening can be as sociable or as secluded as you wish. The beach restaurant Gin’ja is offering a five course set menu with champagne cocktail on arrival and a harpist and guitarist will provide a gentle ambience.
From 19h00 to 24h00 guests of the Cavendish Bar will be treated to 25% off all beverages and special cocktails will be promoted by the bar team.
To finish off the day relax in your private bath tub and choose from fragrant bath salts (including ylang ylang, vanilla, frangipane and aloe vera) or indulge in a flower bath.

  Bento Box on the Beach
Recently introduced by chef Hiro San, 3 types of Bento Boxes (little Mauritian food baskets) are now offered directly on the beach for those wishing to enjoy the sun without interruption.


Valriche trekking
The 3,500 acre Valriche Nature Reserve offers Le Telfair guests the opportunity to explore the island’s unique wildlife. Trek the reserve along the river followed by a lunch served at the lodge.


Bike ride to Rochester Falls
Rochester Falls should not be missed when staying in Bel Ombre. From Monday to Friday from 10h30 Le Telfair guests can hire bikes and ride to the falls.


Le Telfair’s involvement with the Mauritian Wildlife Foundation
Mauritius had once held the world’s richest diversity of reptiles but now populations are severely depleted. Le Telfair supports conservation groups such as the Mauritian Wildlife Foundation and the Forestry Service in their research and restoration of the island’s reptile species. Le Telfair also directly supports the Mauritian Wildlife Foundation by promoting their ‘Ile aux Aigrettes’ island tour which gives guests the chance to learn about the island’s ecosystem and to see rare plants, deer, bats and birds.

Freshly cut coconuts from the lush Telfair gardens are served daily at Le Palmier pool bar.


Transfers by air!
A helicopter service is available for airport transfers, golf course hopping and for excursions and photo opportunities.

  New access to 3 golf courses in the South
After concluding the deal with Le Morne‘s Golf Club, we are very pleased to inform our guests and partners that we also secured access to the Tamarina Golf Club.
Le Telfair Golf & Spa Resort’s guests can now play golf at preferential rates in these two 18 holes golf courses, as well as complimentary at Le Golf du Château.


PriceWaterHouseCoopers Trophy
The PriceWaterHouseCoopers Trophy was held on Saturday 11 November 2006 at Le Telfair’s championship golf course, Golf du Chateau.


Mercedes-Benz Trophy
The International final of the third Mercedes-Benz Trophy from Belgium took place at Le Telfair Golf & Spa Resort and Golf du Château on the 2nd of October.
This annual event requires qualifications through the top golf clubs in Belgium and hosts Mercedes-Benz invitees.


Air Mauritius Golf Classic
Sponsored by Air Mauritius, the competition was held over one week and on three courses in the South of Mauritius; at the Golf du Chateau, Le Morne and the newly opened Tamarina Golf Estate. Players from South Africa, UK and Ireland competed. The event is scheduled to take place again in September 2007.
